Air Conditioning Service Your System May Need Throughout It's Lifetime

Your air conditioning system may encounter a problem or two such as a breakdown, the need for professional maintenance, or even a recharge of refrigerant. You may encounter a problem that you don't know what to do about, which is why you should call a service company for help. Read on for a few different service tasks or issues your system may encounter and what you can do to help.

1. Refrigerant Refill

If your system is suddenly not blowing out any cool air but it is turning on and turning off just fine, it may be out of refrigerant. The refrigerant is what helps cool your home. Without refrigerant, your home is only going to blow air out, but your home isn't going to cool like you would want. If you do not have cool air, you can try to adjust the thermostat, make sure all of the vents are open, and also check that your system is turning on and off properly. If none of these things did the trick, it may be in need of refrigerant. Call a professional HVAC company to have your refrigerant checked and refilled if necessary. Do not attempt to handle refrigerant on your own; this should only be done by a professional.

2. Maintenance And Cleaning

If your system is acting sluggish or just isn't keeping up with the temperature in the house like it used to, it could be simply because your system is in need of some cleaning and maintenance. You can hire a service company to have your system cleaned and inspected properly. They will go through and do a thorough check of your system, taking it apart to clean all of the moving parts and grease whatever is necessary. This is not something you should do on your own, you can spray down your system to clean it, but don't attempt to take anything apart other than the housing.

3. Repair Tasks

If your system breaks down, as in it doesn't turn on when the thermostat sends a signal to your system to turn on, you are going to need a repair. You may be able to get your system working again if the problem is minor. Your system may have been choked due to a full air filter. Remove the air filter and exchange it for a new one. If the full air filter shut off your system, you're going to need to reset the system. If this doesn't turn your air conditioner back on, you may have a bigger issue that requires the help of a professional

Call an air conditioning service company for any issue you are experiencing with your air conditioner. Some things are not a DIY project and should be left to the pros to ensure they are repaired properly.
